When your dress arrives at Always and Forever and it’s time for alterations, you’ll receive an email or text message requesting that you book your first fitting appointment. Here's Some More Information

Alterations at Always and Forever Bridal

The Fitting Appointment

Depending on your dress style or your alterations needs, you’ll have approximately 3-4 fitting appointments in store.  Remember, your wedding dress was ordered according to the largest measurement (between hips, bust and waist), therefore it is likely it will NOT fit perfectly at your first fitting appointment.

At the first appointment, your fitter will pin the dress in all of the right places on you so our sewers can start customizing your dress to your body. This is where the customized Sculpted Fit process begins.

The Undergarments

To properly fit your dress, you’ll need to know what undergarments you plan to wear on your wedding day.  We suggest that if you plan to wear a supportive bra or shapewear you bring the piece you plan to wear on the day to each fitting appointment.

The Dress Hem

Besides properly fitting the dress through your bodice and hips, we will ensure that the hem is completed to your specifications and your chosen heel height. You want your dress to be the perfect length on your wedding day, this is why it's important to bring your wedding shoes to each of your fitting appointments.

The Shoes

Your wedding shoes are required for all of your fittings. We prompt you to think about this as your next step after saying yes to the dress. You do need the exact pair of shoes you will wear on your wedding day. Your dress hem is made to the appropriate length and different styles of shoes change your posture and therefore alter the fit of your dress. Be mindful that alterations are required over a 3-4 month time span so you can not wait any later than that to begin. Always and Forever stores carry a variety of Badgley Mischka styles, so if you wish to consider a pair make an accessory appointment, to try on a selection before choosing the right pair. If you do not bring your shoes or forget them, your hem fitting will be rescheduled for later in the alterations process

The Bustle

While the custom fit and hem are in the works, your fitter will also discuss the best bustle options with you, for your train.  A bustle gathers up the train of your dress to keep it from dragging on the floor during your dinner and reception.  There are a few bustle types to select from which can be secured with buttons and loops or ties.

You’ll work with your fitter and discuss different bustle options for your wedding dress.  At your final fitting, we will teach you and your bridesmaid or family member how to bustle your dress so you can dance the night away.

Quality Control

During quality control, your dress is checked to ensure there are no loose threads and that each bead, crystal, lace appliqué, sequin, etc. is perfectly in place for your wedding day.

Press & Pack

After your final fitting, you will make arrangements to pick up your gown whether that be for a short or long transport, across town, interstate or overseas. Once this is booked in your dress will be pressed by our team for pickup or shipping. The dress is pressed, steamed and packed. The dress will  be covered in an opaque garment bag and will be ready to step into on your wedding day.
